Hi, interesting topic and worth discussing.
My 2 cents: Yes, FlatPress should work on HTTP-only servers. There might be reasons we don't know (testing, internal use, you name it) - we should leave every user the freedom of choice. But of course we'll keep encouraging users to go secure!

I was able to reproduce your problem on a HTTP-only server (update: And on a second one) with "HTTPS only" deactivated in Firefox. And I created a fix - can you please try again with the latest version of our HTTP/HTTPS development branch ?

That was an error in the old Akismet plugin. I switched to the Comment Center plugin (which has the Akismet service included), now it works fine again. Thank you for reporting!

Having fixed #99 , the only open issue of the 1.3 milestone is to update the standard plugin documentation on our wiki (issue #81 ).
