Bug? Setting a width for a picture forces landscape orientation

Post by dsteuer » Mon Oct 11, 2021 9:52 pm

Hi folks,

stumbled upon a strange bug, I think.
If a portrait picture ist included as

Code: Select all

[img=... width=nn]
it is shown as landscape regardless of exif information.

If included as

Code: Select all

[img=... scale=NN]

it is shown as expected i.e. keeps the original orientation.

Detlef,

I am unable to reproduce this.
I uploaded this landscape-oriented image to my test blog and created this entry:

Code: Select all

[img=images/2021-04-15_fp15.jpg width=200]
It just shows the image in landscape orientation and 200px wide as expected.

Can you reproduce this with any image? (And, if not: Can you provide the image that causes this behaviour?)

All the best,
Arvid

Hi Arvid,

as said in the post the picture itself should be portrait,

Now, if I set the width as described, it is shown in landscape.

Pictures originally in landscape work just fine.

Sorry, my bad.
I tested it again with an image in portrait orientation (this one), but I still can't reproduce the described behaviour.

Does the problem occur for you with the image linked above?
What browser/OS are you working in?

All the best,

Hi Arvid!

This one is embarrasing. When I created the pages from an Android Browser (Fennec) and later on a laptop in a train I had to do some heavy lifting
to get portrait pictures show up as portrait when given a width parameter. I cost me hours, I am sure about that, as it nearly drove me crazy.
:)

But: I can not reproduce it now. Not with img= nor with photoswipeimage=

I tried your picture and the pictures that caused the problems while in Italy. All work just fine.

It it ever happens again, I'll save the problem-picture before doing anything else.

Once again sorry for the noise.

Detlef
