PhotoSwipe Umlaute

Post by joticakr » Mon Apr 19, 2021 7:14 pm

Hello Flatpress community,

I try to add image captions with help of the texte.conf file in the gallery folder. It's working fine but I'm not able to use ÄÖÜäöü. For the normal posts it's working fine. Do I have to add any more information to the texte.conf file.

Johannes,

what happens when you add an umlaut? Is it displayed weirdly, or do the captions disappear completely?

I suspect an encondig issue. It should work with texte.con encoded in UTF-8. (Under windows, I check - and change - the file encoding with Notepad++.)

(Damn, this reminds me painfully of my plan to finally build an admin panel for managing the captions... )

Let me know the results!
All the best

Hello Arvid,

I checked the file by

Code: Select all

file -bi texte.conf
and it said it's utf-8. If I write Fläche, it's shown as Fläche.

Johannes,

this is kind of embarrassing: For Umlauts to be displayed correctly, the texte.conf had to be encoded in ISO 8859-1 (i.e., ANSI). UTF-8 encoded files would always lead to broken Umlauts :?
I fixed this, please see the latest version 1.0.4 of the PhotoSwipe plugin on our wiki: https://wiki.flatpress.org/res:plugins:photoswipe

Let me know if that works good for you!

All the best,
Arvid

Hey Arvid,

I just replaced the plug-in and everything works fine. Thank you!

Best regards,
Johannes
