How can I ban spam comments?

Since many spammers have started leaving spam comments on the site, my question is how can I ban comments? Can this be done with manual code in the theme itself or is there a plugin?

Into the main page of Admin Area, click on Entries section (you'll find easily on the top bar) and then Comment Center. In this way you can find all the tools you need to manage spam and unwelcome comments

Thanks for your answer but in comments I have only edit and delete. How can I ban comments at all?

Probably you haven't enabled the Comment Center plugin. Try to enable it from the Plugins section

Hi,

the easiest way is the QuickSpamFilter plugin. It allows you to simply define a list of bad words that identify a comment as spam, so the comment will be blocked.
On my FlatPress instance, this list blocks about 99,9% of the incoming spam comments:

Code: Select all

cialis
viagra
amoxicillin
levitra
doxycycline
Warning: A comment will be disallowed even when one word is part of another (e.g. "old" matches "bold" too).

Also, use the Comment Center plugin to let the Akismet service do the spam filtering for you. It also allows you to configure that comments must be approved by you before they are shown on your blog.

All the best,
Arvid
