So, here we go:

• I uploaded the plugin folders seometatag and readmore by FTP; when prompted for identical names, I chose "copy only more recent" so that only the files that were modified were copied
• The good news: the blog is functional with this change
• Less good news: when copying the address of a blog entry in Linkedin, it is still the overall theme image that is displayed (whatever the entry), not the first image in the entry (see attached file, this is a draft in Linkedin. The original entry is here)

Should I uncheck one parameter in one of the config files?

Problem found.
In order for the SEO Metatag Info plugin to find the image and create an Open Graph endpoint, the image must be inserted into the post editor using BBCode.

HTML code—such as an image embedded in a <figure> element—does not work.

Great, thank you very much Fraenkiman!
Indeed, I have tested on many of my blog entries: by replacing the html coding for images by the BB Code, and publishing again → there it is, the preview is available when I post the link on Linkedin!
