Plugin to manage partner lists (comparative style)?
Plugin to manage partner lists (comparative style)?
Hi. I'm setting up a small blog using FlatPress for a niche project, and I'd like to display lists of partners in a slightly visual way, a bit like what you see on the big online casino guides (with the logo, a short text about bonuses or wagering requirements, and a call-to-action button). Since FlatPress doesn't use a database, I don't know if anyone has already made a plugin or a simple widget to manage this kind of list without it being too much of a hassle to update in text files? The idea is to have a clean layout that lists around 10 or 20 brands, with key information such as the license or payment types, but it needs to remain lightweight since that's the whole point of FlatPress.

Re: Plugin to manage partner lists (comparative style)?
Hello BlakeT,
No, there is currently no such plugin/widget available for FlatPress. One possible solution is the newsletter plugin, which allows you to manage subscribers in the admin area. The newsletter plugin has been part of the standard distribution since FlatPress 1.4. With a little skill, you can customize the source code to suit your needs. Widgets are provided in FlatPress in the form of plugins, or you can use the BlockParser plugin.
Best regards,
Frank

Hi Frank
Thanks for the quick and detailed answer! That’s an interesting workaround with the newsletter plugin. I hadn't thought about hijacking the subscriber management system to store partner data, but it makes sense if I want a dedicated UI in the admin area. However, to be cash, I’m a bit afraid it might be overkill and a bit messy to maintain when the core plugin gets updated. I think I’ll look into the BlockParser option you mentioned or perhaps create a custom template for a specific category. Since I want to keep the site as lightweight as possible, a clean HTML/CSS structure within a static block might be the path of least resistance for 10 or 20 brands.
