Change Directory

Post by WineMan » Wed Feb 15, 2023 5:02 pm

I want to change the folder that my flatpress blog resides in online. At the moment, it resides in public_html/mybloggy/ and I want to change mybloggy to something else.

What is involved in doing that...do I need to re-install everything and if so how to I keep the blogs posts I have already written. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Hello WineMan,

you only need to change the blog URL.
You can find the option in the admin area->Options->Blog URL.

Alternatively you can delete the file %%setup.lock from the fp-content/ directory and start the setup (setup.php) after creating the new directory.
The content of the blog is usually not lost as a result.

With best regards
Frank

This is the cool thing about FlatPress: It's supereasy to move it to another folder or even server. Just copy here and paste there :)

It's always a good idea to make a full backup of your FlatPress folder before you put it away. By the way, I generally recommend doing this on a regular basis.

All the best,
Arvid
