FlatPress Does Not Delete Certain Comments
FlatPress Does Not Delete Certain Comments
I've been using FlatPress for six months and I really like it. One minor problem has appeared: FlatPress does not delete certain comments. My FlatPress configuration is: version 1.2.1. For comments I use the 'Comment Center' that is part of the standard distribution. All comments are blocked until I publish them.
While reviewing comments I select certain (spam) comments to be deleted. After I approve the delete action, FlatPress displays the list of remaining comments which still contains a few of the comments I just requested to be deleted. I have tried to delete these 'can't delete' comments more than a dozen times but they stubbornly remain in the queue. Several of these 'can't delete' comments are verbose and occupy much space on the screen. Suggestions?

Hello johann,
welcome aboard. This is the first time I've read about such a problem.

- Which plugins, apart from the standard plugins, have you activated?
- Please attach such a comment here in text. Gladly as *.zip archive.
- Which PHP version are you using?

Thank you for responding.
The PHP Version for my FlatPress site is 7.4.33.
All of the plugins are authored by FlatPress. The list (including version and enabled status) is attached to this post as an archive.

Re: FlatPress Does Not Delete Certain Comments
Hello Johann,
now we've talked at cross purposes . Just something.
I need the complete text of a comment that you can't delete. Quasi copy/paste into a text file and that as a *.zip archive. Or you can simply post a link to such a problem comment here. Then I can try to reproduce the problem.
With best regards
Frank

Re: FlatPress Does Not Delete Certain Comments
I tried to delete all comments, six 'undeletable comments' remain. I copied and pasted each 'undeletable comment' into a text file, then archived those six files. The archive is attached to this post.

johann

Hello Johann,
many thanks . I will add these comments to my test environment and make an attempt to delete them. As soon as there is anything new, I will let you know.

Re: FlatPress Does Not Delete Certain Comments
Hello Johann,
I was able to delete all 6 comments on my test environment in two different ways.
However, I am using the latest FlatPress developer version as PHP8.1 is installed on my web server.
Proceed as follows as a prelude:
1. Log in to the admin area and click on the "Maintain" panel.
2. click there on "Rebuild index"
3. now click on "Purge theme and templates cache".
Now to path one:
1. click on the "Manage Entries" panel
2. now click on the number in the "Comms" column - preferably on the entry that contains such a problem comment.
3. here you can now edit and/or delete the problem comment
Done
OR
Now to path two:
1. click on the "Manage Entries" panel.
2. now find the entry that contains a problem comment and click on "Edit" in the Action column.
3. now look in the address bar of your browser and copy the last end of the address, starting with "entry". Example "entry123456-789012"
4. now click on the "Comment Center" panel and on "Manage comments"
5. insert your entry in the "Search an entry" section, which contains the problem comment
6. now search for your problem comment and delete it.
Done
Hint: You can also activate the QSpam plugin and add some words like
This means that it is no longer possible to post URLs in comments.
The number of forbidden words must then be set to 1.
